FREEDOM  HALL
About Us
Strengthening Families...

You don't have to look far to see broken homes and hurting families...

        Over 18% of Gulfport
          families are fatherless

          Mississippi has the 3rd
          highest teenage
          pregnancy rate in the US.

          Drug issues and economic
         challenges compound the
         difficulties families face
         every day.

The solution to these issues isn't found in civic, state, or federal government handouts or legislation. The road to recovery begins when we:

    * help single mothers
       through daily struggles...

    *encourage and mentor men
      to lead their families...

    *assist youth to realize their
       value and potential...

Building Community...

Freedom Hall is designed to be a means of improving community life and vitality.

  • Four affordable offices will be available for rent of lease to local small business entrepreneurs as means of helping them pursue their dreams.

  •   Four meeting/ conference rooms will enable us to host town hall meetings, church gatherings, family banquets, community fun events, sports recreation, movie nights, and seminars.

  • Liberty Cafe is a cafe and ice cream shop that will provide a social setting for folks to get together and enjoy conversation and build relationships. Liberty Cafe will also be a place where the community will become aware of the slavery around the world and be given different opportunities to help those who suffer from it.

  • There will be a large open space and kitchen to rent  for the use of weddings, graduations, family reunions, public events such as craft sales, town meetings etc.

Challenging Youth...

Many of Gulfport's youth spend their spare time watching T.V., playing video games, or hanging out on the streets. There simply are not many constructive alternatives in the community.

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO STAY THAT WAY!

Freedom Hall aims to provide youth with positive influences through sports initiatives and skills training. Basketball, volleyball, kayaking, and potentially arts, and music classes will be held on an annual basis. In addition life skills training in areas such as carpentry, mechanics, sewing, baking, and first aid will also be offered not only to benefit the youth, but also local families through community projects.

We hope to inspire creativity, and challenge youth to impact the future like Helen Keller, George Washington Carver, Clara Barton, Martin Luther King JR., and Jim Elliot did for their generations.
